Frequently Asked Questions
|
How long is the treatment session?
A first visit will take 45 minutes to 1 hour as we need more time to understand your condition and history. Subsequent sessions for the same condition will take approximately 35-45 minutes. What should I prepare for my first consultation? Please prepare the patient's NRIC and latest medical reports, such as discharge summaries, blood tests, medication lists and X-ray/CT/MRI/PET-CT scan reports, if any. How long will it take for me to improve and recover? The expected duration of treatment depends on many factors, such as the nature and severity of illness, the patient's age and body composition as well as other concurrent conditions (such as diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol). For example, a simple sprain may require 1-3 sessions of acupuncture, while severe stroke patients may need at 6-24 months of long term treatment. How often do I need to do acupuncture treatment? Depending on the condition, we may recommend sessions on an ad-hoc, once weekly, or twice weekly basis. What should I do after the acupuncture session? You may eat, drink, exercise and move about your daily activities as usual. Please avoid taking a shower for 2 hours after the session (washing hands is okay). Is it normal to see bruises after acupuncture? Yes, you may experience minor bleeding and bruising on some acupuncture points after the session and this is normal. Bruises generally fade and heal after a few days and patients are advised to avoid rubbing or massaging the bruise. What is TCM medication and do I need it? Our herbal medication is provided in the form of concentrated powder extracts, similar to the texture of instant coffee. It is a custom preparation made up of herbal plants, minerals and may contain animal products (vegan options are available). All our herbal medication are classified as Chinese Proprietary Medicine (CPM) which are batch-tested and approved by the Health Sciences Authority (HSA). Your physician will advise on suitability of herbal medicine for your condition during the consult. How do I take TCM medication? Please mix the TCM powder in 0.5-1 cup of warm water and consume 2 hours apart from western medication. |
